Full Moon in Voorlinden

The moon's magical light has enthralled artists for centuries. The fascination of the sun's reflection on the moon triggers a movement.

Because, just as the seas and oceans bob along to the pull of the moon, artists and artworks inspire each other. That is what Full Moon is about.

This collection exhibition is about the pleasure of watching, comparing and discovering how artists and artworks interact and illuminate each other. Moon Night IV by Jan Sluijters kicks off the exhibition, as it did when it was first shown at the opening of Voorlinden in 2016. You will see the painting reflected in the installation The Performance by Esther Tielemans. In this reprise, you can again or still experience the visual journey of discovery of Full Moon, including some new works from museum Voorlinden's collection.

Full Moon consists of over 40 artworks from the collection of museum Voorlinden from different movements and periods, ranging from young talent to established names. You will see work by Dutch artists such as Rineke Dijkstra, Katja Mater, Paul Kooiker and Jan Sluijters and international well-known and lesser-known names, including Andy Warhol, Haris Epaminonda, Ai Weiwei, Damien Hirst, Olafur Eliasson, Susan Collis, Kaari Upson and Ugo Rondinone. Belgians are also well represented, including René Magritte, Marcel Broodthaers, Pascale Marthine Tayou and Mark Manders.
