Welcome in Wassenaar
& Voorschoten
Between coast, dunes and the Vliet river lie the villages of Wassenaar and Voorschoten, deep in greenery and surrounded by country estates and castles. A hidden jewel of the Netherlands, in the middle of the Randstad, between Leiden and The Hague. This is the area where the wealthy bourgeoisie traditionally liked to settle because of the abundance of greenery, space and peace and quiet to catch their breath.
The area has a fantastic coastal strip and is part of the National Park the Holland Dunes. It is one of the greenest holiday destinations in Europe with lots to do.
An area with many walking and cycling routes. With more than 100 national monuments such as Kasteel Duivenvoorde, Kasteel de Wittenburg, the Zllver factory and the Royal Estate de Horsten and its authentic tea pavilion. But also the many characteristic buildings in the two historical village centres with many cosy catering establishments and nice shops. Amusement park Duinrell and recreation area Vlietland are great destinations for the whole family. And for culture lovers, besides the country estates and country houses, there is the wonderful Louwman museum and museum Voorlinden.
In short, guaranteed enjoyment in the 'glorious outdoors'!
