WHERE NATURE CONNECTS CITY AND SEA

In South Holland, along the North Sea, between the beach and inland and close to the major cities, the Hollandse Duinen National Park is located. A unique area where estates, dunes, bulb fields, peat meadows, villages and towns alternate. It is extremely diverse, always different and full of experience. With a bit of luck you can see foxes, deer and seals. And that in the middle of the most populated area of the Netherlands.NATIONAL PARK NEW STYLE National Park Hollandse Duinen is one of the first national parks in a new style and is therefore much more than just nature. Hollandse Duinen is unique because of its proximity to the sea, the villages and towns, the valuable nature in and around the dunes and the rich culture and history. The mix of natural and man-made landscapes makes the area so 'Dutch'. You experience the interaction between man and nature. You can see the results of our old struggle against and our new connection with the water.

National park under development

At the end of 2016, the Dutch public chose Hollandse Duinen as one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands. Less than 5 months earlier, Dunea had taken the initiative to establish the national park. No fewer than 39 partners joined the initiative. Together we drew up an ambition document: what do we stand for as a National Park? About 100 residents, users, volunteers and entrepreneurs provided input. Read here what we want to achieve. In December 2020, the official status of national park was applied for by Hollandse Duinen at the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. The Status Application sets out the course and ambitions for the collaboration between all partners of the Hollandse Duinen National Park. This collaboration makes it possible to realize the ambitions of this new style national park.

Part of the Status Application is the National Park Implementation Program Hollandse Duinen. The Implementation Program 2020-2025 provides an overview of the joint actions and projects of the partners of Hollandse Duinen.
