My Favorite Place: Atelier de Paauw

Where: Paauwlaan 2C, Wassenaar

Why: In the summer of 2019 I moved from Rotterdam to the most sustainable building in Wassenaar: "apartment complex de Frederik". As a bonus, I got nine hectares of green oasis – Park De Paauw – almost right next to my front door.
On my first walk with my Fox Terrier through the beautiful park, I became mesmerized by a fairytale-like forest house, in which visual artist Lin Jan's has her studio. Not only was the forest house very attractive to me, Linda, too, who spontaneously offered me a cup of coffee after looking at her colorful paintings, which are draped around the house.
Since then, on all my walks through “de Paauw”, I stop by Linda's studio to have a chat and admire her new paintings. I often meet interested passers-by, but also many regular visitors who – like me – have joined Lin Jans in the course of the
have built up a friendship over the years.
This has now become my favorite place.
