My Favorite Place: De ‘druppel’ on landgoed Duivenvoorde (and the Grote Eetkamer)

Where: Laan van Duivenvoorde on the Duivenvoorde landgoed

Why: The 'drop' is a well-known phenomenon for former residents, visitors and walkers. This is where you will see the beautiful castle for the first time as you walk up to the castle from the car park. We call this place the 'drop' because it has a teardrop shape from above.

The start of my volunteer day at the castle starts here, where I am often greeted by the rays of the sun and the peacocks of the Estate. I then proudly walk over the straw with the thought that prospective bridal couples may give their yes here. On wedding days, the wedding cars drive via the drop to the castle. Official outdoor weddings also often take place on the lawn at the drop. My photo was taken at the drop by the big pond; a fantastic point to admire the castle.

The Great Dining Room is my favorite place within the castle. Here I often have conversations with our prospective bridal couples. I have been able to build up beautiful memories with bridal couples who share how they got to know each other, how the marriage request went and how they envision one of the most beautiful days of their lives.

I invite you all to take a walk across the drop to Duivenvoorde Castle!
