Roundabout in front of City Hall

My Favorite Place: City Hall Roundabout

Where: transition Schoolstraat / Leidseweg

Why: I love Voorschoten. And I like crowds. That is why I think the roundabout in front of the town hall is the most beautiful place in our village. That place not only forms a junction of roads, but also connects past and present for me. The Raadhuislaan runs eastwards. I was born on that street in 1965 at number 102. The flower stall of Aunt Ploon used to be on the corner, when the roundabout was still a crossroads. Schoolstraat runs southwards, which together with Voorstraat forms the heart of our village. The showpiece at the roundabout is the town hall, where I married my Patricia in 1994. The building dates from 1925, the year my mother was born. Finally, the Leidseweg meanders via the roundabout to the Julianalaan. The daily ribbon of cars is like blood flowing through the heart. This is the most beautiful place in Voorschoten.
