My Favorite Place: The Deer Camp in Meijendel, Wassenaar
Where: Entrance Jagerslaan. At the intersection with Spelderslaan
Why: A beautiful and unique natural paradise, in these times an excellent location to stretch your legs.
The surprising thing about this area is that you can experience this as a simple walker enjoying the clouds, the views and the natural vegetation. For those who are more interested in the flora and fauna, they can indulge themselves here. A multitude of natural biotopes and numerous sightings of a wide variety of birds, mammals, amphibians and insects.
It is a miniature transition area from (inner) dune to polder landscape.
A dune stream which drains the water from the dune forest edge a few meters higher to the waterway along the Jagerslaan. A beach wall landscape which is typical of the coastal strip.
