My Favorite Place: The Jachtslot Ter Horst on landgoed De Horsten
Where: Horstlaan in Voorschoten
Why: This is one of the few places in Voorschoten that has not changed in the past seventy years and where you can fully enjoy the space, tranquility and nature.
In the early 1970s, the province of South Holland wanted to build the Leidse Baan, a motorway from The Hague to Leiden, for the hunting lodge and ruin the entire area. Fortunately, that died in January 1972 in the Provincial Council of H-H. Only the much too large bicycle tunnel is a reminder of that. As children, we were allowed to bring groceries in the then closed area and get acquainted with nature. Once a year Prince Bernhard came to hunt there and the peace was cruelly disturbed
