My Favorite Place: The old tree on the corner of the beech avenue and the chain bridge at Duivenvoorde landgoed

Where
: Chain Bridge (right) at Duivenvoorde landgoed

Why: Nowhere do you come so close to the past as at Landgoed Duivenvoorde. I have been a curator at this beautiful place since October. I like to think about how the inhabitants of the castle experienced this place. History becomes most tangible at this old beech. He stands at the intersection of two centuries. If you turn left, you will experience the stately eighteenth-century avenue from the time when the garden was still a French Baroque garden and the residents dressed in gray wigs took their walks. If you go straight ahead, you will find yourself in the romantic Zocher garden from the nineteenth century.

PS: Everyone can now adopt their own favorite tree on this beautiful estate; you can celebrate life on Duivenvoorde with your own old oak, beech, fruit or lime trees.
