Voorschoten

A visit to Voorschoten means getting to know a rich history. Voorschoten has countless monumental buildings, including the well-known Zilverfabriek or Castle Duivenvoorde. Much can be found about this in the museum of Voorschoten, on the Voorstraat. In the center you will find information panels that tell the historical story. The horse market was founded around the year 1200 and is therefore one of the oldest annual fairs in the Netherlands. Voorschoten is part of Park Hollandse Duinen. With the Vlietlanden recreation area (part of the Hollandse Plassen) just a stone's throw away, Voorschoten is attractive for water sports enthusiasts. You can explore the area with a (rented) sloop. It is also wonderful to cycle through Voorschoten. In addition, you can easily cycle to the beach in Wassenaar or the pleasant student city of Leiden.
